Background History
I began my much loved journey in dancing at 9 years old with ballet, before progressing to ballroom dancing at age 11. From then on I continued to dance and train in Latin American, old time, modern sequence, rock & roll and disco.
Having taken medal tests in all branches of dancing, I then reached my first pinnacle by becoming professionally qualified in ballroom dancing in 1988. Since then I have continued to train and gain further professional qualifications in all genres.
It gave me such a feeling of achievement when I began to train pupils, from absolute beginners to students preparing for their own professional qualifications.
A true passion for Dancing
I am still so passionate about dancing, especially ballroom and Latin, and have become very aware of other elements such as the Argentine tango. I really do love to teach, striving to share my love for the wonderful world of dancing with every one of my students. On a personal level my favourites are the rumba and foxtrot.
Rumba is so expressive, especially the arm movements - one can move so beautifully to the music. Foxtrot is a style that words can't really explain - you just become so involved with the music and your partner. Most recently I have been training and studying Argentine tango and have a growing following who wish to indulge in such sensuous and encapsulating movements - the more we do it the more we want to indulge!
My creative side encouraged me to enter the inventive competition events, winning the Latin section at the Butlins Northern Inventive Competition in 2011 with my very popular 'Mambo Tequila'. In 2023 I won the British Dance Council Latin American section with my Bossa Nova 23. A very easy, fun and enjoyable dance that has proved to be immensely popular..
